Let's understand some basic facts in simple words:
Who is healthy?
Health as defined by World Health Organization (WHO), it is a "State of complete physical, mental, and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." Its simply the english version of ayurvedic definition given by our ayurvedic rishis, more than five thousand years back.
Who is not healthy?
The condition of health and disease, is the result of variation in our
body matrix and its constituents by the different stages of ingestion,
digestion, absorption, assimilation and metabolism, which is
significantly affected by our bio- fires ( Agni) and psychological
mechanism. our diet ( Aahar) also plays a major role in it. By these
processes of digestion and assimilation, food get processed into
DOSHA--DHATU---MALA.
Any deviation from the normalcy may be the cause of the diseases. This
deviation may be at any stage, having variety of different combinations
of body constituents.
According to ayurved, what are the basic constituents of the body or
sharir?
Ayurveda is THE SCIENCE OF LIFE, and life in Ayurveda is considered as
the conglomeration of the dosha-dhatu mala, along with Atama and Mana
:-- दोष धातु मलमूलं हि शरीरं ।
• Three / Dosha /humors (vata/pitta/kapha)
• Seven basic Dhatus/ tissues ( Rasa, Rakta, Mansa, Meda, Asthi,
Majja, Shukra) &
• Waste products of body/Mala (Mala, Mutra, Sweda)
Why same ayurvedic medicine or treatment is not effective in all patients of same problem / disease?
Due to above said reason, same disease may have different pathology in different patients, resulting in the variation of treatment. So, in AYURVEDA treatment is always planned on the basis of DOSH - DUSHYA sammurchhana, SROTO-RODH, ROG MARGA involved and AAVARAN of DOSH if involved. (ayurvedic pathology of disease). This is viewed in reference to the the PRAKRITI of the individual because Ayurvedic pathology varies from person to person, even though suffering from the same diseases. That's why, any Ayurvedic formulation or treatment can not be generalized for all patients of similar problems / diseases.
